The Governors Education Symposium is hosted by the Hunt Institute, in conjunction with the National Governors Association. Each year, governors and education experts gather for a two day long event. From round table talks and expert panels, to Q and A sessions, the event is full of learning. This year, the event was in Denver at the Downtown Denver Four Seasons and the Boettcher Mansion. The Hunt Institute was looking for a Denver event photographer and that’s how they found us! We were so excited to photograph this great and important event for them.
2017 Governors Education Symposium | Denver Event Photographer
There were seven current and past governors at this year’s Governors Education Symposium. It was such an honor to have them all here in Denver learning about how to make our children’s future’s brighter. Former Governor or North Carolina and Chair of The Hunt Institute Foundation Board James B. Hunt Jr. welcomed everyone to the event, followed by Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper and Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson. Governor Dannel Malloy of Connecticut, Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina, Governor Kenneth Mapp of the United States Virgin Islands, and Lieutenant Governor Brad Little of Idaho also attended and participated in the event.
Day one of the symposium was all about on early care and education. The second day of the event was about college and career readiness. Teachers and principles from around the country came to share their thoughts and ideas with the governors in round table talks. Education experts held panel talks and question and answer sessions with the governors. The United States Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos spoke via Skype. She encouraged states to work together with Washington to make schools and learning in our country better for everyone.
It wasn’t all about learning though! Governor John Hickenlooper invited everyone to his home after the first day. He held a reception at the beautiful Boettcher Mansion. It was quite an evening! Governor Hickenlooper was joined by his wife Robin Pringle and their dog Sky. Sky was the life of the party, that was until Hickenlooper picked up a banjo and started playing with the bluegrass band!
What a fun night! I am so lucky to be a Denver event photographer and cover such amazing corporate events. Our associate photographer Jamie Kraus photographed this event and did a wonderful job.
